Building a MCM Marketplace Brick By Brick Ain't Easy

Treasure Fox has been hard.
Not the kind of hard you romanticize later.
The quiet kind.
The kind that shows up as missed expectations, partnerships that didn’t work, talented people choosing the safety of a 9–5, and the constant pressure of cost—servers, subscriptions, development, and time. A lot of time. This has always been a bootstrapped, self-funded effort. No big runway. No safety net. Just belief and persistence, carrying the weight day after day.
Along the way, I learned the parts of AI no one puts in a pitch deck. Models hallucinate. Systems guess when they shouldn’t. Teaching AI to behave less like a gambler and more like an expert takes patience, repetition, and humility. We’re still refining. Still learning. Still pushing for accuracy, trust, and reliability.
There were moments when stopping would’ve been easier. When it could’ve stayed an experiment.
But some ideas don’t let go. They sit with you. They demand to be finished.
Now, Treasure Fox is nearing launch—not as “another app,” but as something intentional. A focused community built around Mid-Century Modern design, powered thoughtfully by AI. A niche by choice. A place for people who care about craft, history, and discovery.
This isn’t hype.
It’s persistence.
THE FOUNDER
I’m a designer, builder, and founder who believes objects carry stories.
Before Treasure Fox, I spent years working with global brands—helping complex ideas scale without losing their soul. I lived at the intersection of design and emerging technology, translating powerful but intimidating tools into experiences people could actually use.
Over time, something shifted. I realized I didn’t just want to help brands communicate better—I wanted to build something of my own. Something slower. More intentional. Something rooted in curiosity and respect for craft.
Mid-Century Modern has always been that place for me. The clarity. The restraint. The belief that good design improves everyday life. Treasure Fox grew from that love—and from a frustration with how hard it is to accurately identify, value, and understand these pieces without insider access or gatekeeping.
This isn’t about flipping
It’s about understanding.
OBSTACLES & CHALLENGES
Building Treasure Fox meant choosing the harder path.
Existing marketplace platforms weren’t flexible enough for what this needed to be. So we built the infrastructure ourselves—a true multi-seller ecosystem where individuals can run their own shops, manage inventory, and grow within a shared community.
That decision added cost, complexity, and time. But it also unlocked something better.
Treasure Fox isn’t built around one-off transactions. It’s designed around continuity. An AI system that supports sellers over time—helping with identification, pricing, presentation, and growth. An AI that learns, improves, and earns trust instead of demanding it.
We’ve also spent years refining behavior—reducing hallucinations, improving accuracy, and teaching systems to understand nuance and context. The goal was never flash.
The goal was reliability.
Nothing about this has been fast.
Everything about it has been intentional.

THE WORK: TREASURE FOX
Treasure Fox was born from a deep respect for Mid-Century Modern design and the people behind it. Built in Michigan, near the roots of the movement, it’s inspired by designers who believed clarity, restraint, and purpose could shape culture.
That philosophy guides the platform.
Using a custom blend of vision AI and language models, Treasure Fox helps people identify, value, and understand MCM pieces—without stripping away the joy of discovery. It’s not about replacing expertise. It’s about extending it.
Beyond buying and selling, Treasure Fox is meant to engage. Designers can source and visualize. Collectors can deepen their knowledge. Sellers can build sustainable businesses. And the system grows smarter alongside the community.
Education is a core part of that vision. Articles, insights, and stories designed to teach, inspire, and connect—giving people a reason to return not just to transact, but to belong.
This platform is built for pickers, collectors, designers, shop owners, and enthusiasts who want better tools without gatekeeping. It’s about preserving knowledge, supporting livelihoods, and keeping a design legacy alive—together.
WHY IT MATTERS
Design isn’t just how something looks. It’s how it lives.
The same is true for products, platforms, and communities.
I believe technology should serve curiosity, not replace it. That AI should amplify human knowledge, not flatten it. That the best things grow slowly, earn trust, and last because they’re built with care.
Treasure Fox exists to honor the past while building something useful for the present—and sustainable for the future.
Not loud.
Not rushed.
Just honest.
